The Annual Fishing Report:
Every year will present different challenges to each and every angler. I’m presenting to you my views from years of experience.
These recommendations will focus on which species are the best to target during particular months on a quarterly basis as follows: Remember, this is just a guide. Water temps, wind and current are all a contributing factor that plays into fishing.
January-March
Sheepsheads will be one of the easiest fish to target as they move from offshore reefs and wrecks to the inland warter-ways to spawn and eat. They will usually congregate uner bridges, docks and seawalls.

Spanish Mackerel will begin their migration southward. Grouper and snapper will start moving closer within 10 miles of the reefs Nonetheless, I recommend fishing 30 miles out the months of January-March for the best chances of larger grouper and snapper.

April-June
Seatrout in the grass flats.
Tarpon arrive. Look for them off the beaches and inlets.
Snook will begin to move from rivers, creeks and canals to the beaches to spawn during April.
Redfish become a target for many. Look for them around oyster beds, mangroves, and around the passes.
July-September
Redfish and snook will be everywhere in the back areas. First, snook, with their cunning nature and preference for structure, test a fisherman’s skill in accuracy and stealth. Second, redfish, known for their strength and the determination they show on the end of a line, challenge one’s patience and finesse. T
Seatrout will remain in the grass flats but are seen everywhere. Srout, ever elusive, with a preference for specific conditions and habitats, demand a keen eye and an understanding of the water.Catfish become a nuisance.
Grouper and snapper will move offshore to 100-140 ft of water due to water temps.
October-December
Redfish and snook will mirror the above report for the previous months.
Pompano and spanish mackerel will be for the most part ‘by catchers’ while targeting seatrout on the grass flats.
